My first post!! I know, a head isn’t all that exciting but I felt the need to practice my skills in modeling, sculpting, and eventually texturing. Please add critiques. What I’m looking for is mainly to get good topology.
pretty cool! reminds me of John Locke in Lost
Looks a bit less like he has a bad spray tan.
This is my first real attempt at a skin texture so criticism is welcome:yes:
What is with this seam in the texture? It doesn’t appear anywhere other than the render, it is sooo frustrating!!
Head??? That’s not a head, it’s more like an orange on a toothpick!!!
HAHAHA, ok not really, it was just an excuse to dredge up that old chestnut (if you know where it’s from, it’s funny).
I actually just noticed a seam like that on my model too, unfortunately for me it’s on his forehead
Re the overall shape/proportions, they don’t look quite right, I would guess that your front and side images are not aligned relative to each other as well as they need to be (a condition that commonly leads to head shape not quite right but difficult to fix).
To be more specific, it looks like your side reference is rotated to far forward at the top, and in the front view the top half of his head is too narrow, giving him a conehead look.
Re the skin texture, I think it actually looks quite good
I didn’t use reference images so it’s no wonder the proportions are off, something to keep in mind for next time.
This seam is really bugging me! At least it isn’t on the forehead The weird thing is that it wasn’t in previous renders. Maybe if I’m lucky it’ll go away like it came.
he has a greek profile^^ did you use UV mapping for your tetxure? if so you can try to move some vertex on the UV editor
