help: create realistic tree

I need to create a realistic tree. But only good tutorial I found is in Blender Guru http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIyfDevVq-o but it says it’s for lender 2.49 and wont work on later versions… I use 2.65
How to create a realistic (not really, i want a nice animation film type, like the trees in pixer films) tree?

I have to render it in internal because the plane/land i made, will render in internal :stuck_out_tongue:

recent blender versions come with an add-on called ‘sapling’, which creates very nice trees.
