help in exact working please

Hi fellows

I am quite new on blender. Most of my knowhow is right from youtube. I am currendly trying to built a house.

What I marked the vertex around the hole and set the curser to them (so the curser was in the middle of the hole) then I moved the window to the curser.

I think the windows are on the right place now but I dont know any way scale them right. Can you guys help me?

I dont exactly understand what You mean, but I’ll try to point You in right direction:
a -> Select/deselect all
s -> scale (Use mouse :slight_smile:
l -> Select all verticies that belong to one’s under the pointer

Anyways, check out BlenderWiki.
happy Blending!

Well i know this basics but they dont solve my problem…

I have the window on the proper position but not in the right size. Is there a trick how I can scale the window EXACT in the size of the hole?

if it part of the house just select the window vertices and click s on the x z or y axis if its not do the same with the object

And how is that exact? Of course I can scale it approximately but I want it exact.

Isnt there any function like “scale up until it hits the 3d curser”?

turn on edge length in edit mode
scale the edges while holding ctrl key
I think blender is better at doing approximations than exact dimensions.
exact dimensions can be done but this is called a “workaround” from what I know.

You can scale it up using snap function - Snap to verticies or edges. Or like me, just drag side along until it snaps, sort of manual scaling. For me, it works. And Ed is right - Blender is not a CAD software… Yet :slight_smile:

If you select the 4 “outside” vertices then Shift-S (Cursor to Selected) then scale via your cursor “.” on the numpad, you can scale the window. To get it exact you’d have to approximate first and then use either edge dimensions or you could snap each verticie to a grid point. Shift-S (Selection to grid)
