For context, this is a comedy debate show that’s going to launch on YouTube soon. The red and blue colors that you see are going to change depending on the characters debating on each side, as to create a thematic presentation. Also, please ignore the noise and reflection errors, this is a quick single pass preview, those issues don’t exist on the final composited version. Last, any further criticism on the scenario is welcome.
None of them really strike me as “comedy debate” (the set itself, with the earth in the backgound… feels like the bridge of a spaceship, not like a comedy show), but of the three, Dancing Goo is the one.
I’d also tighten the set distances and shoot closer in, but that’s a separate matter.
I’m voting for Rising Smoke, because I feel the reduced structure (compared to the other two) will be most sustainable for longer viewing.
I’m somewhat confused, however, in that all three backgrounds (Goo, Energy, & Smoke) are inside the windows – they appear in front of the columns separating the windows. Assuming we are floating in some alien environment, I would have guessed the alien environment should stay outside of our life-support container. The large planet in the background suggests we are in space, but having a non-vacuum environment suggests we might be viewing that planet from some nearby moon or planetoid capable of hosting an alien environment (goo, energy, smoke/mist). Please clarify intent.
Thanks for sharing and asking! It looks very cool despite my confusion.
The angle shown here makes it hard to understand, indeed. That is because the platforms and the table are mostly covering the main visual cue of were the background effects are positioned: which is the intersection between the floor and the container where the background effects are.
The effects are supposed to be in a container that is enclosed, on the farther away side, by the windows and columns of the spaceship, and on the closer side by glass panes - think of an aquarium against the wall.
I think it won’t be a problem for viewers of the show, since they will get to see it from several different angles.
