help!! strange keyboard behaviour in Blender on XP

Hi everybody
I’ve had a strange problem for some time with my Blender running on Windows XP. Occasionally the keyboard layout changes, so that ‘y’ is where ‘z’ should be, and vice versa, it looks like the German layout. It switches back and forth every few minutes, sometimes more often, sometimes less often, and I’ve no idea what triggers it. You can imagine what a problem it is when trying to undo or redo! Or trying to change from wireframe to shaded view. It ONLY happens in Blender, except that once it does, the same thing happens in GIMP; I mean when it gets screwed up in Blender, GIMP behaves the same way, it never happens JUST in GIMP. It NEVER happens in any other program. I tried different versions of Blender, I tried a different keyboard, but the problem clearly lies somewhere else. I had worked in Blender for quite a long time before it started happening, and since then it’s been bugging me, making my work really difficult. Probably if I re-installed the system completely, it would vanish, since it used to work OK on the same system, but I would rather avoid that if possible. Any ideas? Please help!

I had exactly the same problem. It has to do with a Hotkeyfunction in XP.
You can disable it in the controll panel. (I can`t tell you the right names in english because i have a german version, there it would be Systemsteuerung / Eingabehilfen / Einrastfunktion) maybe somewone can translate thouse for you.

Thanks! I’ve found it!
It’s in the regional/language options. The combination shift+ctrl changes the language and alt+shift changes the keyboard layout. I did not have this problem in other programs only because I never used that combination there, whereas in Blender it happens quite frequently (e.g. when loop-selecting more than one row of vertices - alt+RMB + shift).

I don’t know if this is also related to your problem but hitting the shift key 5 times in a row activates the sticky key function in Windows. If anyone is experiencing weird keyboard problems just hit shift 5 times and you’ll get a pop up window where you can deactivate or allow the sticky keys.
