Hi I’m a newbie and i was just wondering how to turn turn text into a mesh object or a easy way to make text from mesh
alt c is convert, you will have to convert to curve, then convert the curve to mesh.
thanks this is a lot of help
Hi i just found out. when i convert text into curve then to mesh it works well but when i put it into a the blender game engine the text seems to be hollow.
i was wondering if this was a glitch or it is just me
PS. if it helps i am running windows xp home and blender 2.37a and 2.40 test build 2
Thanks
Did you extrude the text before you converted it into a curve->mesh?
Either that or you’re p;laying the game in wire-frame mode, in which case just switch to solid or shaded mode

Yes i did and i am playing the game engine in textured mode (Why can’t things be as simple as they should be :x ).
I also seem to notice that the game engine cannot see text.
Dose this happen everyone or is it just me?
Recalculate normals, by pressing Ctrl+N in edit mode.
i took your advice and it sort of worked,
the out side is now solid in game mode but the insides of them are hollow
but it seems normal in normal vewing
and when renderd
so is this just me or is this a glitch
Is that Vertex Paint or UV Texture?

umm… I think Vertex Paint %|
You might need to flip the vertex normals to outside. To do so, select the whole mesh ( press a in edit mode ) and the press ctrl+n. I think.
thats what i did (dident you read what MassTA said)
anyway this is what it looked like before i Recalculated normals
and also befor i Recalculated normals but from behind
this seems very odd :-?
Is this just me [!]
It’s a Normals problem if they showed before Ctrl-N and now they don’t. Ctrl-N doesn’t always catch every face. Sometimes you have to go in and flip them manually by selecting the offending faces and W-Flip Normals. They are easier to find if you go into UV Face mode “F” in object mode then toggle to edit mode with Tab from there.

Well thanks that works . but is seems a long-winded approach especially if you have a lot of text to put in
