Help with cleaning up duplicate faces.

I downloaded an old architectural model from a friend. But it has a lot of problem such as duplicate verts, duplicate faces (two separate faces exactly on the location and sizes).

Is there a tool like Weld (in 3ds max) in Blender where it can find close enough vertices and weld them into 1 vertex automatically?

Automerge feature in Blender will merge vertices but I’d have to do it manually one by one while modeling.

Any advice to clean up bad meshes? Any advice tips and tricks is appreciated.
Thank you.

Try removing doubles
Press T to bring up the toolbar and with all the vertices selected in edit mode scroll down and select the “Remove Doubles” button. If you find it removes too many or too little vertices you can change the merge distance in the tab below.

I hope this helps:)
