I’m just starting out with Blender, and through the many tutorials I’ve seen on the subject I have been trying to blend up some of the things in my house. I always feel guilty when I use everybody’s great tutorials to learn things if I don’t share what I’ve learned. A little positive feedback from the lurker crowd, kinda like.
So even if they’re unwanted (and after looking at some of the exhibits in this forum I don’t see anyone ever much needing these for anything), these are a few of the things I’ve done over the past week that I never possibly would have been able to do without those very tutorials so freely provided.
Hmm… Right click on object, tab, a, a (To select everything), w->shade smooth (Or something like that in 2.49), next in… Gah! CAn’t remember! Modifiers are in 2.5x right? Anyways, search for edge split : )
@Venthe, another way to get there in 2.5 is to press T in the 3d viewport to bring up the toolbox, then whilst your in edit mode, click a to select everything then select smooth under the shading tab in the toolbox window
Subsurf is kept under modifiers now. This can be accessed in the button window. click on the picture of the spanner to go to the modifiers tab. click on add modifier then subsurf is in the left hand column second from the bottom.
the active modifiers will then appear below it so you can easily alter the settings
