Ive used 2.79 a lot and know how to do this in 2.79, but not 2.8. I’m trying to figure out how to have an emissions light in cycles light some text, have the text reflect on a glossy plane, but hide the mesh that is an emission object from the reflection on the plane but not the reflections on the text. Any idea how to do this? In 2.79 Id use different render layers. In the image below Ive already turned off the light object from being viewable by the camera, but when I turn off glossy, everything goes dark including the text.

Thanks Roken!! That’s awesome! I did that and it worked… for the most part. Im still getting a faint reflection of the light in the gound plane though… any ideas?
Hey,
did you try to turn off ray visibility (glossy) ?
edit: works also on area ligths

If you want to keep that neet glossy reflection on the text though, here is my solution:
Like Fallirini said, turn off the glossy ray visibility of the lamp. But in the lamp shader, set your nodes like so:
Happy blending!
