High Poly Spaceship (Beautyshot update)

Reworked the little hangarbay area somewhat.

Here we go, a hopefully nice beauty shot test:

The ship design is very impressive,
but the latest render could be improved a lot.
P

vliegtuig: What would you improve on the render?

The ship seems separated from the rest of the image.
It doesn’t receive any reflection from the planet.
Could use a bit of greenish backlight or sidelight, you’ll have to experiment.
This could take away the feeling I get that the lighting is ok but the colouring seems off.

The right arm receives too much light and is a bit washed out.
Maybe you could add a bit of glow from an engine.

The whole scene is a bit dull, maybe you could add some more ships.
Or if you don’t want to add ships you could enhance the starfield in the background.

hrmm, hrmm, how is this:

Well, what do you know?
Great improvement.
It’s important to understand that when you put an object in front of a “light source” such as the glow of the planet that your object will appear darker and you’ve captured it quite nicely in your last render on the left arm.
Also, the colouring seems better now.

Care for an animation? :]
P

First off, very impressive, Way better than anything I can do.

My question may have been addressed earlier, but I’d rather not look through all the posts. Anyway, how exactly did you create the glow in the atmosphere for the planet, and how did you make the space dust?

but wait, in a moment of inspiration, maybe it’s just a giant image for the background, which would explain a lot.

So if it is a giant image, ignore my above question. :expressionless:

Indeed the background is just a image, with the ship composed over it, with the lighting matching the lighting on the planet.

Currently i’m trying my hands on creating a plaent myself, its well, difficult.

what you have looks pretty good there. Planets reflect some light too, have you thougt about putting a little rim light on left side to emulate light bounce from the planet?

in that image there are actual light sourcesnear the planets glowing part pointing that the ship.

But the ship is a damn hard modle to light, most of the time it looks like crap or you don’t seen an effect.

But the rim light is actullay there.
