hey there …this is 1 of our student Level3 modeling assignments. any crits or observations are certainly welcome
thks
Whoa - five stars from me, and the model isn’t even textured! Not really sure on my military spec’s but the render is very eye pleasing. Not texturing it very soon should be a crime.
very nice!
wow you get to do blender in high school? we dont even get to use sketchup ¬ ¬
i can imagine texturing that is going to be a right b****** of a job
if i were you i’d stick to using plain materials on things such as the scope and maybe any rubber grips or something. looks more realistic and there’s less to texture.
great job though, keep it up
thks kbot…ya we haven’t worked on the texture end of things for this project. it started simply as a speed model but some students wanted to take a bit more time than 1 class. i’ll post a few more and also see about textures for this one
also thks LR…every high school should offer blender imho… i have 3 levels of animation/3d modeling/architecture etc. using blender. students find it challenging but much more interesting than 2d design stuff. ask your drafting teacher to check it out
thanks deltawing ![]()
i got half our IT diploma class into it so tomorrow we’re going to launch a campain towards our teacher to see if we can get it on the servers for the multimedia project. should work, our class can be rather persuasive when we need to be ![]()
i must admit using blender has really helped me in my art
i kept getting complaints about how my proportions sucked (actual words from my teacher lol) but after using blender when I draw gtting the proportions right is second nature, even though i never recall practicing…
well 1 up for giving your students such an awesome experience sure wish we had someone like you instead of a teacher who’s being a good teacher when she doesnt interfere…
Credit is due for the modelling though, very nice.
hey again LR…good to hear that you have been pro-active in wanting to use our favourite app. i don’t know why an instuctor would pass on working with it, but it does take alot of personal time to learn. i’ve had tons of help from blender users and the great tuts as well. keep requesting and things should change. we have cinema4D as well - but i prefer .blend (more support)
- good call on the texturing…maybe a bit of nice material would be enough
nitronic755 - thnks for the info/link…i found the image in www.theblueprints.com
i will post a few more renders from other students and include their names
cheers
