Hitting 'control' does not grab the texture I want to clone

I keep hearing that hitting the control button and left clicking on the area of a texture I want to clone will sample the area, but for me it does nothing. It does, however, move my 3D cursor to that location. Is this a file corruption, a known glitch, or neither? I’m on Mac.

Have you tried the same thing, but using the Command key? In my brief experience with Macs that mostly takes over the jobs that the CTRL key would do in a Windows. So, it would be, Go into the clone brush, then Command, Left click.

Thank you! But yes, I had tried that and even tried option too–just in case. Neither worked

Are you using the Clone tool in texture paint mode? Are you using the Clone tool in the 3d view or the 2d Image Editor?
