Edit: Never mind, solved it before anyone else could get to it. Turns out my objects had acquired UV maps which were over-riding everything else. I think. Anyhow, somehow I fixed it. Will post the scene once it’s done and rendered…
Very simple Cycles question.
I am trying to make a scene comprised of several objects which appear to be 3d printed. The material should look roughly like:
As you can see, there are very thin horizontal striations throughout the object. These need to be the same in all objects in my scene. I’ve created a material which uses the “Wave Texture” “Bands” setting to create a bump map. This works well, except for two problems:
1.) The bands appear oriented along apparently random axises, rather than the Z axis.
2.) The bands are oriented differently for every object in the scene.
Ideally, my material should simply reference the global Z coordinate, however Cycles seems to have no concept of global coordinates. Help? Thank you!
