i thought baking would speed up my blender performance, but the opposite happened. after baking some hair and particle simulations blender takes several minutes to save or even becomes unresponsive… impossible to work that way… i use V3.51, my hardware: 1 TB SSD, intel 11700k, RTX 3090, 32 GB RAM… also i already increased the memory limit in preferences from 4GB to 16GB. but still the same issues. any ideas? THX!

have you considered using disk cache? just in a quick test scene, the size of the blender file went from 60mb to 800kb by storing the simulation data in a dedicated folder that doesn’t get re-written every time you save the project.
