I began this project to discover the sculpt tool of blender. What do you think about it ?
I tried to do something the most realistic as possible. :eyebrowlift2:
Looks good!
Try putting a little more weight on him.
EDIT: Where’s his mane?
Thank you for the comment !
I have to create his mane and his tail but I don’t know how to do it correctly.
Use planes and add a hair texture.
this model looks really good!
I think the texture could use improvement though…maybe you could bake an AO texture and set that to ‘multiply’ on top of your wood texture? I think that might help in making the details more noticeable
I’d have to disagree with XeroShadow about the planes technique though. Since you’re using a wood texture, I’m assuming you’re making a carving or statue of a horse. If you look at statues of horses like this one, the mane and tail are solid (as opposed to the individual strands you’d get from particles or textured planes)
so maybe sculpting the mane and tail like this would be best? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGAqhMcFsY0
@ Jeepster:
Yeah, in this case I think sculpting would look better… but of course thats up to the artist
also, his nostrils look a little wierd, here is a pic of a horse’s nostrils:

I think accentuating the muscles would really help as even if you are going for a horse sculpture or a real horse the shaders may wash out some details, there are some really good ecorche horse images out there to use as reference.
Thanks everyone for your comments ! I am going to try to improve it with your ideas. I agree with Jeepster about the mane and details like that.
