Horse with tack

My most recent project. I tried to learn how to make a decent texture for a horse.

Some parts of the process:

I used substance painter to create a coat/ “fur” base and then another map with lighting on top

I’m still not happy with the legs but I’ll work on that on future models.

Your horse looks nice, although I can’t really see much of it. I think your scene would benefit from being brightened considerably, having more visual contrast, and using a lighter background. If you’re going to do a flat color background, you should do do something with strong contrast to the object of focus - your horse is dark brown, so your background could be a very light pale brown, a light pale green, or even just a warm off-white.

Anyway, nice job on this, it’s very convincing realism :slight_smile:

Hi, thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it! I was trying to achieve a particular style of photography popular with equine photographers. Honestly I really think it lacks some more contrast and more dark values to create more contrast. I should’ve mentioned that.
