I really enjoyed working on this project. I wanted to give it a bright color palette, like something out of a vintage comic. I thought of many different designs, but the key on fire just stuck. The fire was just a plane with a shader, mostly a gradient with many levels of noise mixed in. By offsetting the noise, the fire can easily be animated.
If I’d had more experience, I would have done the text in gimp or photoshop, rather than blender. Blender is good at a lot of stuff, but text is not it’s forte, especially when you want to keep it non-destructive, and be able to change the text later.
Anyways, I hope you like it. Overall, it was a learning experience, but I am happy with the result, and I gained a lot of skills from it. Feel free to give me some constructive critique, so I can improve my future projects!
