House in southern Polish style of wooden architecture

The Zakopane Style, also known as the Witkiewicz Style, is an architectural style introduced by Stanisław Witkiewicz in the 1890s. Witkiewicz aimed to establish the foundation for modern Polish national architecture, drawing inspiration from the art of the Podhale region.

Prominent advocates of this style included W. Matlakowski, W. Eljasz-Radzikowski, and J. Wojciechowski. The “Przegląd Zakopiański” journal, published from 1899 to 1906, played a significant role in popularizing this architectural movement. The Zakopane Style found particular resonance in the construction of guesthouses.

Beyond architecture, the Zakopane Style extended to the creation of furniture, household items, clothing, porcelain products, musical instruments, and souvenirs. Elements of highland culture permeated the works of composers and writers as well. In a broader context, the term “Zakopane Style” encompasses all manifestations of integrating the folk art of the Podhale region into the broader national culture.

I designed everything myself, except for wooden ornaments on the balcony. Didnt have enough time.
