How can i achieve that paint peeling effect using physics simulation?

The paint must actually peel not just the texture. I wan’t to achieve that Silent Hill Other World transition effect.

This is what I have done so far. I am using a particle emitter for now.

It is not a game. It is an animation done in Cycles where the sky suddenly turn dark, paints began to peel and then hellish creatures emerges.

Where can I find a tutorial to achieve that peeling paint effect?
