How do I change the font of Blender UI? I’ve tried to replace the font in \2.61\datafiles\fonts but no success.
Don’t bother, just use it as is.
From what i read, to change the fonts you need to change when you’re building Blender from the source code, because the font is hardcoded.
If you have no source code building knowledge like the majority of us, you’re better try to get used to the default font (in the User Preferences -> System, i always disable the “text antialiasing” that makes the font unreadable when i resize the panels to my liking in the interface) .
Let’s just hope that one day, they will make it so you’ll be able to change the font in the User Preferences.
Thank you all.
But I think it shouldn’t. Blender shouldn’t use hard-coded font. Some artists might be sensitive to the font of a software, why not to make them happier?
Jokes aside, I want to change the font because blender internal font (“droidsans” if I remember correctly) doesn’t support UTF-8 characters. So it’s really hard to do works involving Asian characters, which is a common situation for me.
You may want to check out thisGotchas link. Scroll down a bit and there is some information about unicode problems within Blender.
@Atom: Thank you. The document you provide only deals with Unicode script files, not conveniently editing, displaying and converting them within Blender’s GUI.
I found in 2.63 that by replacing the font and enabling Internationalization (but leaving it on Default or English), I could change the font. Apparently droidsans.ttf.gz is only loaded when you need to change the UI language. Hope that helps.
It’s Easy
User Preferences > System > Interface Font >
Now it’s
Preferences → Interface → Text Rendering → Interface Font
