How do I recreate this Viewport Shading → Studio Lighting in a shader? I do know that it is faking lights and I can recreate those lights using a Normal node, but other than that I have no clue. This is Default.sl.
I believe the matcaps are .exr files… could you use that as your HDRI in either cycles or EEVEE?
Edit: I know you said “Studio”. Not sure how that could work, but you could create an HDRI similar to the Studio lighting, then use that as your light source.

When looking at the Edit Studio Light panel, it looks like something that can be recreated in shader. Every light direction can be controlled, which I cannot do with a HDRI.
Hmmm. The reason I suggested an HDR is because no matter what the shader turns out to be, it’s still affected by the lighting.
Maybe someone with a lot more shader experience than me could help.
