How do I remove a reflection from a water droplet?

Please help me. I am using the fluid sim and have a water droplet, with a second water-ring surrounding it (two different domains and colours), and both are in front of an image plane, but the reflected light from the outer water-ring is causing the droplet in the middle to look too bright - messing with the single spotlight reflection I set up. I find the compositing render layers very hard to understand, but would it work on transparent material like glass and water if I managed to understand it? I want the droplet to pick up light from the image plane and designated spotlight, but not from the outer water sim. Switching off Glossy on the outer-ring gets rid of the light pollution, but then of-course doesn’t look like water any more. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forums!

Could you upload a render of your scene, so that we can get a better idea of what you’re aiming for and help figure it out?
