I don’t get it
online I find about installing it as an addon
I do so, and it fails, no errors are shown, nothing gets installed

You leave to leave it as a zip file.
I assume that is the problem.
Thats the most common problem with addons being installed.

it indeed is a zip file, but that gives me that problem
