How do you manage your personal projects?

Something that I’ve explored and documented a bit as I work on my animation project, with a view to applying it all to any other 3D project, big or small.

I first looked into the same tracking system that the Blender Studio uses: Using Kitsu for solo production tracking

Long story short, at this stage I’ve not gone back to it.

So far what has worked pretty well is sorting out a folder and file naming structure. I’ve given a bit of an overview on both of those here for folders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dgB-6K6_UE and for files: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCnmDKewrxc

Those are a little old now, as I’ve refined things a bit as my project progressed, but in general it has worked well.

What it doesn’t give is a sort of single progress overview picture of what’s WIP, what is done and what isn’t started yet, etc. That is something Kitsu can do, but you need to feed all the information into it first, which for a solo person likely isn’t worth it.

In the past, one would have likely used software such as MS Project or I guess those online sites are the modern day version.
Personally at this stage I suspect my next step may just be a simple Spreadsheet for basic task tracking.
