Its a very long time since my last post here and I really missed it! Had a lot to do with job, familiy, you know
So I decided to post my latest Blender animation here I did for my day job at the engineering academy. It’s quite different to the stuff I posted in the past
I worked on it for around 6 weeks inclusive rendering. I also already did two other 3D animated videos for this channel, you can find them in the playlist at the end of the video. You also can choose an english audio track.
Not really critique but the generators look a bit small and the penstock isn’t visible, it’s usually (but not always) external for easy access when doing repairs and maintenance.
And yes you are right, we decided to simplify some stuff and not make it 100% realistic because its about the very basic function of a hydropower plant.
I think that this is an extremely effective video. It clearly shows how the plant works, and the details of the turbine controls, for a type of turbine that you clearly explain is “illustrative.” The sound track and effects are very well-chosen.
And, throughout, there are “little things” that are well-thought-out and well-rendered. Such as people and cars who are walking in the background. And, in particular, the operation of the sweeper which clears debris from the screen at the top of the intake. The mist and water effects are extremely good. You entirely believe the motion of those pieces of debris that are being swept aside. The fluid passing through the turbine and exiting it is also superb.
So, it’s “crystal clear,” as any instructional video must be, and also masterfully crafted.
