How I made a Kid's Show

Hello,

Over the past 2 years, I have been making a short form kid’s show for the toy company, SmartZone. I’ll be sharing tips on how I managed to do all of the visuals alone. The time line for season 1 was crazy. I had 3 weeks to create an episode, which ranged from 3.5 - 5 minutes long. Each episode had at least one new character and a new set.(All of this while working a full time job at the same time.)

I had to figure out how to make a show. There aren’t really any good answers when you Google “How to make a shot by yourself”. Below is the difference between the first episode and the last episode. You can see I was figuring things out.

Episode 11:

Because of the work I did in season 1, SmartZone wanted a season 2. This time, I got more time and money. So I was able to improve the quality of the characters and the environments. Season 2 isn’t out yet, but I can share the Christmas special I did.

It’s a lot of work making an entire show, but hopefully I can share some tips with you that might help you in your own creative journey.

Until I post more, feel free to ask any questions you might have and I’ll do my best to answer them.
