How to add color to texts? (Fancy Text Fonts Are Used)

Hey, so I am still really new to Blender, and I was making a Youtube intro, I am happy with everything except for being unable to change the font color on the words…I downloaded some fancy fonts from dafont, but when I add a material (color) they don’t change when I render (F12) They are still black…So how do I do this?

A step by step explanation would be appreciated.
