I am trying to create this object. I can model out the main shape. But what is a good way to create the holes. Does any one have tips or a tutorial?
The base with holes: Cylinder, subdiv sides to have squares, decimate modifier: unsubdivide 1, inset indivual, delete, subdivide modidier, solidify modifier, simple deform modifier: taper Z; neg factor; limits 0.1 0.7: secons simp def taper Z(not easy, maybe edit 1st too) … okay mine has a too big diameter…
Thanks I will give it a try
Select the squares arround the hole (by length with a little clean up) and resize with individual origin:
.
Thanks, that will work
Since it is woven wicker in a Hexagon pattern… you might consider going with a wicker PBR and do this via Materials… Just an Idea…
Wicker Material HERE
Thanks, but I want to make this model 3D Printable, so I need to model it
Twist the shape, inset, subd, use LoopTools to make circles, scale by individual origins.

that’s great,
I had thought about the Tissue Addon, but I think this is the best solution.
I thought about Tissue too. It is great for this kind of wicker things.
Just wasn’t sure how much details the author wants.
