How to control the movement of an object in the game engine?

It’s not say clear in the blender manual. Basically, what should we do if we want to remotely move a objects, forward and backward and turn?

I think u can use animations for this or you can use properties

I mean like a car, it will always go forward, and then you only need to control it to turn left or right, and stop, and even accelerate or decelerate. What can be used in the logic block? What menu should be used?
