How to create a cable bending animation?

Hi, I am a newbie in Blender. Is there any trick to create a similar cable bending animation in Blender?

Animating a curve, i whould suggest.

You could also try using the “simple deform” modifier (bend) together with linked empty objects and vertex groups, but

  1. it’s quite a hassle to set it up correctly and
  2. you are pretty much limited to circular shapes

so @Okidoki 's suggestion is probably the one to go for.
