How to create a texture from a mesh

Hi all,
I don’t know if this is possible, but I would like to produce a newly formatted texture from the texture that I have applied to the mesh with respect to the meshes typology.

For instance:


after I have textured the mesh with a standard photograph using ‘project from view’, I’d like to then re-unwrap the mesh (using seams) producing an image something like this

…If that makes any sense.

You can do this by just adding a new UV map (one that is properly unwrapped) and then using that uv map to bake a diffuse map.
