Hello, how does one shoot and edit photos for use as a background when modelling?

generally speaking your question is pretty self-explanatory.
when you are modeling the only thing that matter is the shape of your subject, so you can cut out the background and everything else from the scene, in fact this kind of photos are usually proposed on a background made only by one solid color; also the model is usually not completely dressed, but this depend on what is the main purpose of the photos, for anatomy purpose the model is usually completely or almost naked.
speaking about photography is important to avoid the creation of shadows with a good lighting.
