Just tired playing around with a noise node and coloramap using this site to grab some colors from your image, but didnt have any luck with the coloring, maybe you’ll fair better (if you haven’t already).

Maybe looking around for some old bronze/copper shader.
Perhaps playing with this mega shader:
https://www.lluisgarcia.es/category/blog/cycles-shaders/

The download link is at the end. If you have trouble downloading it, right click on the download button and “Download link as …”

Here is another metal megashader that may interest you (old painted metal):

Edit:The link does not work, see here:

last link is dead - i mean download is dead
i might have it on my HD will check

i will look at the shaders for old copper
it looks like the right color

i can always add some texture over i guess

i just finish checking my HD and could not find these old files
can you upload the 2 files
looks interesting enough and might be useful for other things

thanks

Sorry, I had not verified that the link worked. The two links that appear on the Mike Pan’s site correspond to the same link, here I have uploaded it:

The shader is released under CC-Zero according to the site.

got the last file with fire hydrant - thanks

are the 2 files the same nodes set up ?

thanks for link

If you mean the two links that appear in Mike Pan’s link, yes, they are both the same.

I have one you can play with…It cycles ONLY as it includes a bevel node, and reads edges and adds Dust as well as Rust…all can be adjusted as size shape color etc.
the more there are areas that have geometry the more it works…

Two examples…

last file seems to need to register to download
can you upload it to pastall if possible

thanks

this vintage model of a elec motor for a fan has several copper mat
or might be more some sort of light color bronze or bronze composite

see image here

thanks

Can you upload the model to pasteall? Easier to have something concrete to work with.
Bronze is an alloy, a metal composite material is something completely different.

you mean the file !
done in 2.79 for now will convert to 2.83 later

i’m working on the model and might need a few days before
i get the whole thing with the different parts

don’t have a lot of references so have to eyeball several parts
and no rush

thanks

That image was of cast brass that has been cleaned…look at the fan cage as well as the rest of it…the look of that cleaned material will depend on the texture roughness displacement Normals…etc.
as far as the color…it is fully adjustable…but until you get into 2.8 you can’t use it…had NO idea you were working in 2.79…

Not exact, but just came across this, maybe they can offer their setup.

for the copper bronze like mat
i think i have enough nodes set up
to start and adjust color close to the mat in photo
and also adjust some bumps / scratches to fake the texture
not really looking for a 100 % photorealism here
a good look is good enough.

now i need to concentrate on the modelling of the different parts
and i did not find any blueprint for the part’s size
so i will eyeball it and do the best i can

thanks for feedback
