How to make a hat 'bop'


I’m making a hat for a model, and want it to sorta ‘bop’ as the character moves around. I was thinking of using damped tracks, but I don’t really know how those work. Any help?

There is an addon that supports simulation bones.

This addon is a more soft-feeling simulation.

Tried it out, it does work, but connecting the hat to the mesh makes things glitch out.

Did you use automatic weights? try painting the weights.
Also exclude the bones weights that are not part of the hat.

Just had to reapply the automatic weights, and after some tweaking of the damped tracks, the hat works now!
