How to make a plane transparent, but not the image on it

Title says it all. I tried looking at tutorials and doing what they said, using import images as planes, doing this in shader properties:

then in the settings setting blend mode and shadow mode to alpha hashed. Yet when I render the scene the plane isn’t transparent. What do I do?

Are you sure your image is actually transparent? That checkerboard looks like it’s baked into the image. You can very easily check by plugging the Alpha straight into material output. If it’s all black, which I suspect it will be, that’s your problem

Happens to all of us, fake transparent images are very sneaky

Just wait until you’re working on a professional project and your client sends over their logo on a “transparent” background…
