How to make a rectangular hole

Hi, i want to model a shotgun. So, i wanna make what i circle red it.

And i tried boolean, and applied it- result this glitchy.

How to fix it?

Duplicate your base mesh
Call the duplicated mesh “ahahah” then hide it
Take your base mesh, subdivide it to give it a high dense geometry.
Hide your base mesh.
Unhide ahahah
Add Shrinkwrap modifier to ahahah targeting base mesh
Cut a hole in ahahah as you like
Select all the ahahah vertices and create a vertex group called “shrinkwrapped”
Set in the shrinkwrap modifier the vertex group as shrinkwrapped
Extrude the hole’s vertices inside
Remove those extruded vertices from the vertex group
Fill the hole inside if you need it.
Apply the shrinkwrap modifier if you need it.
Rename ahahah with another name or you’ll be fired.

AHAHAHAH nice one btw, but no worries-im still in learning phase so, no one gonna fire me :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, thanks for answering! but actually i’m lost at this step

How to cut it? (im still in learning phase…so yeah im so bad to figure things :frowning: )

The base Mesh are actually already using a subsurf modifier. Should i Apply the subs?

UPDATE 14/dec/2019 :

This looks great with Bool Tool Add on (i got it from parametric modelling videos > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YclX1A9bkEE

But! I wanted to put the bevel on the edge of that hole, and yet i cant figure this. that edge too sharp…

I’m going to share the blend files, maybe this will help to understand my problem

Try this script (bevel after boolean)
