How to make glow?

For some reason, I do not seem to be able to find a way to make my object to glow.

Halos is not real glow.

And another tutorial I found in wiki is bloom actually not glow, which is entirely different.

If anyone wonders what type Glow I am going after, it is the classic one, neon lights and lightsabers type.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go to clems.g.free.fr (This is the website that is shown in the bottom left of the splash screen). Choose “English” and there will be a section at the top called “Tuts!”.
