Seriously unsure if this is the right spot for this as I have looked all over the internet but, I have a project planned out to 3d model a character and 3d print them to make a poseable figurine however I have not seemed to be able to find anything on specific points I should take into consideration when modeling? I’m just looking for maybe tutorials or tips for this project and as a base point
as long as its more flexible than this, I’m okay with whatever is thrown at me. Yet again I do apologize if this is the wrong spot to be asking for this, if it is the wrong spot, any suggestions on where I could go to next would be greatly appreciated.
Hey there. I do a lot of 3D printing but haven’t tried to model a lot of articulated prints with movable elements.
You should get a few pointers from looking how others have approached this:
In my experience it heavily depends on the printer and settings when it comes to how tight the tolerances between parts need to be. The rest is a bit of engineering: Figure out how the figurine is supposed to be able to move and design the parts accordingly. The joints need to be printable, you need to be able to assemble them and they need to be movable. That’s why I recommend looking at how other people have approached this design problem.
