How to model the wing sctructure for this topology

Hello I’m making Akıncı UAV;

The topology can be seen in the photo.

I want to make a wing like this

I can create this shape without issues the problem is connecting the wing and main structure of the plane;

with bevel on the joint;

It clearly does looks bad both topology and visual looking wise.

How to correctly join them can someone answer?

Well there’s nothing wrong with the topology, but there’s no real reason why the wing needs to be joined to the mesh like that.

It’s difficult to see, but it looks like you have both the top and side views, so just reference them.

What aircraft are you building?

i think i see what you mean

so i made a basic mesh

so when you bevel the edge it is not blending, or smooth

im not sure i fully understand the issue, if you scale on the Z axes and leave room for the bevel to extend it will blend better, and if you can tweak the topology a bit maybe you can extend it more, the results might not be the same, i use the subdivision modifier, it make’s pretty smooth hard surface models and speed’s things up!

like i said im not sure i fully understand the issue, but this is all the knowledge i have here :slight_smile:

It looks like he is making this model.

Try to model the base shape of hull and wings without subdivision modifier first, I will make example on wing:

Then use subd and add additional loops and/or creases/sharp edges to fine tune the shape:

Welcome to the community! :grinning:

This may also depend on the (needed) detail level of the hull:

…but i did not yet get the more rounded triangle cross section or “pronounced” edge between top and bottom hull here :sweat_smile: nor the engine narcelles or elevator

How the f… you did this can you explain? or perhaps you can send the .blend file : P

Thank you for this but how to connect this to main body?

You seems to have used a lot of vertices in the crosssection. First one has to concentrate on the general form… blend file :thinking: did id saved this ?? Wait a sec…

It is difficult to see yeah but I want to connect them for personal reasons :smiley:

This is without ref images… they were also not very good; almost the first i found and not “matching” very well ← that’s also a reason why using lots of more images to “see” the details when going to enhance the model in the next steps. So only “the first stage of modeling” to get the proper flow of lines and also missing part as mentioned :sweat_smile:

Truly an interesting shape and it just works? I don’t know how but you did it and also the topology is kinda fine.

Mine shape look like this without subdiv:

That’s “the problem”… too much in the crossection ; not enough at the wing profile. It “simply” takes some time to make some experience with such kind of modeling…

Just remember how long you needed to learn to read or write… nothing “just works” because one has seen something similar… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Every great painting started with the first stroke, every great statue started with the first hit of some chisel, every sculpture started with the first fist of clay.

But they wasn’t finished after some minutes or hours… :wink:

Also: less is more.
