Use a wireframe modifier on a cube.
Use an Array modifier after that, with an “Empty” object as the offset.
Scale and rotate the empty object, so it would give you this result.
I’ve got another beginner question, to make the cube edges tubular like the photo, I assume I have to select just the edges and convert those to a curve and then bevel that to get the tubular shape. My problem is when I go to select just the edges it ends up selecting the face as well after I’ve selected the 4th edge, how do I select just the edges of object?
