How can you restore a rigify panel when my character still works in 3.6 5 lts but when you open it in 4.2 lts it is gone even 4.0 does not show the rigify panel. We have not any metarig because we didn t need this in 3.6.5 anymore. I find this pretty brutal from blender.
This seems to coincide with the changes in bone management in Blender, from bone layers to bone collections. Not sure whether there’s an option to update your rig so it works again in the new setup or you may have to rebuild the rig.
Yes it is the change from bone layers to collections it should probably an improvement but for my characters its a disaster because we have not a metarig to make this panel again. That why i find it very rude from blender. Why is there not a solution for we where never warned…
You can only rebuild when you have the metarig which we do not have anymore.
It was not needed anymore !

As for your issue, it is possible to fix it manually without the metarig, just a bit of a pain.
Yes i did make a beginner mistake but it was a teacher from cgcookie where i bought those days a course. But it was wrong from me but blender just deleted the bone layers.
