how to rotate 3d view more smoothly?

Hello.
Is it possible to adjust smoothness of rotating 3d view with a mouse? There are some settings for keyboard rotating in preferences-interface, it could help but minimum value is 1 degree which is completely not enough.

I have needs to set view very precisely but it is very hard to do with default settings.

The way to change OS settings for mouse to slowest cursor doesn’t work.

Im not sure how to make blender smoother when rotating I’m sure there is some setting for it somewhere. for more smoothness and precision it can depend on your mouse settings, do you have a mousepad? what kind of mouse are you using? what is the DPI of the mouse? I had a very high DPI mouse and it was very smooth in Blender, also this mouse DPI could be set to high or low on the fly which is very good to have with blender.

Here is a very good blender mouse: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104857 programable buttons and wide range of DPI settings, can be set per program such as Blender.

I think the reason that there is no mouse settings in blender itself is because the mouse itself can set its own smoothness settings, the creators of blender must no this in advance and may have decided not to included mouse settigns with the keyboard settings, but again I am only guessing.

Heres what you can do in the meantime:

Set your mouse to move slower in the mouse settings.
turning off or on “Precision” in the mouse hardware settings may help.

You will need a high end mouse and a good mouse pad to get rid of some jumpiness when rotating.

I use Logitech m570 trackball. They say it has 400 dpi and it’s not adjustable. So that option -enhance precision- did not do changes any. Pointer speed i tried before and it didn’t help either. That’s why I thought it can be tuned inside blender or something…

P.S. Since i have started use trackballs I can’t use mouses anymore. They freaking uncomfortable for me now, besides my wrist is sore if I use a mouse all day long. So if somebody knows some trackball models with a scroll wheel and dpi greater than 400 I would appreciate your help.

A workaround to set your view to a specific angle is to create a new object, like a cube and rotate it in object mode. This way you can set the specific angles you like. Then use the view>align view>align view to selected feature to set your view to the rotation of the cube.

Yeah, I do something like that now, but it is a long way when you have to do it all the time. Too long.

I have tried using blender with a trackball mouse, but it was too difficult. Using a regular mouse with track wheel is much better to navigate around and view objects.

Adds roll capability to the 3d viewport

maybe it’s better to create tweakable params for navigation speed?
my navigation is broken at the moment - pans and zooms like a crazy.
congigure mouse via OS is not an option

Not sure if there is a default keymap for it
