How to see through a highly dense UV mesh?

My mesh is so dense that I can’t see the texture underneath while in the UV editor.
I need to position the mesh relative to the texture.
Is there a way to make it show less details, or any other alternative?


In User Preferences / Themes you can turn off the vertex dot for the Image Editor. Also change colour or wires
Zoom in closer
Do not use such a dense mesh
Just select the outer verticew of your UV islands and hide the rest
