How to set up Eevee

Well, I think that my question is self-explanatory. What is that black magic with Eevee? I’ve seen a lot of renders from that engine that looked nearly identical to Cycles, with only some small differences. I’ve tried to render my character in Eevee but still can’t get any close to Cycles. How to set this all to look this good? Is there any tutorial, demo files or something?

Myself…

Turn on ambient occlusion and screenspace reflections and contact shadows and maybe glare.

Is there a equivalent of contact shadows in HDR image-based light?

Not that I know of…

It’s probably best to add a sun as well as your HDRI. I do this by turning on the HDRI in the viewer, aiming the viewer so I’m looking directly at the sun, and add a sun and tick “align to view”… I then rotate 180 degrees in local X or local Y… and I have a sun that lines up with the HDRI and can be used for shadows, etc.

I came up with a very similar idea, but I thought that maybe there’s a better solution for that. Anyway, thanks.
