How to use a HDRI as backplate, but not use its lighting?

Hi,

I want to know if I can use a HDRI in Blender, just as a background ’ image’… and without it lighting the scene. So basically just use it as a sperical background image…

is this possible?

Hi,

Maybe this one help you: https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/154928/use-hdri-without-lighting-the-scene

Does the Mix Colour node preserve the high dynamic range? I always use two backgrounds and a Mix Shader node.

Yes, as long as you don’t turn Clamp on

Well I never knew that. Intuitively I assumed that it would be converted to a standard dynamic range, but never really considered it.

Yep, no clipping  The Mix node doesn’t do any transformations - it just takes the raw data it’s given
