Huge landscape (Gaea practice 2)

Hey Blenderists!

Here another personal work I did in my spare time using Gaea 1.3 and Blender 4.0

I modeled the mountain procedurally in Gaea and textured it in Blender using masks and procedural workflow. Wanted to push a little the limit of geometry nodes and also of my GPU memory, as you can see there are (really) a lot of instances.
Used

  • Vegetation add-on for the spruces but modeled some variations of the trees by myself.
  • Megascan’s assets for the rocks
  • Biome reader for the grass and weeds

I wanted to give justice to the new version of Blender as I did start this on Blender 3.6 but switched to 4.0 version to try out the new color transform.

It does quite its job in my opinion especially when it comes to distant shadows and details in the foreground, as well as the colors look generally more vivid.
Here I throw some comparison between the raw renders

Left is filmic, right AgX
The difference is not that noticeble in this specific render (also bear with the jpeg compression here) but there are some differences if you look close enough.
