Human Head

This is a somewhat oldish mesh that I’m trying to update. Right now the looks a bit ‘off’, however I’m not sure what I should do to fix it. What do you recommend?

The forehead seems a bit too big compared to the face.

That’s true, although I was using the MakeHuman head as a reference, and that looks pretty decent, so I’m not sure what went wrong.

Okay, I’ve corrected the forehead, but there’s still something about it that bugs me.

The back of the head can protrude quite a bit in an egg shape and a little more definition at the neck perhaps.

Here is a reference fort the forehead. This will give you a guide to make sure it is correct.

Here is a pretty good all-around reference with some profile views:

You also need a little more definition of the jaw line:

And in general there are some polyflow issues. You can use the above reference to help dial them in.

Thanks for the help. Your example helped, although it does look a little odd around the nostrils and the corners of the mouth.

It certainly does because those areas are not finished.

For the nostrils you can do something like this if you like:

The purpose of that model I posted above was to illustrate the general areas of flow for a head model. This is why they are highlighted. Once you understand where the flow should be you then move in for more detail such as loops around the nose as here and other details.

Here is the thread this comes from:

And one of the references presented by a forum member to contribute:

Thanks, here’s my progress so far:
