I cant append geometry nodes from blend files

I was trying to append my geometry node graphs into different file so I can add it to my asset library when I noticed that I dont see the folder for the “Node tree” in fact I can append any file which is am 100% sure they have geo node groups inside but still when I do file → append → open that file I dont see that folder.

Any idea what is wrong? Must be some setting I am missing?

Maybe this help you:

I am aware of this but the issue is that when I navigate to .blend file there is no such folder like Node tree or Geo node or anything like that.

I have been using asset browser for my kitbash meshes so I know how things should work. Just cant understand why the geo nodes do not show up while appending.

Check this out:

Most likely you would need to activate an add-on called “Node Presets”

https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/addons/node/node_presets.html

Thanks I will check this addon. But shouldent there be a way to append the geometry nodes even without any addon?

Since it’s an open-source software, I think, developers might just skipped that part, probably thinking perhaps fans would do it themselves, and here it is.

It’s like in WordPress, there’s a lot of things that should’ve been done out of the box, but instead of that, people would need to install plugins in order to get what they want. Sad (or not), but true.

But on the other hand, it gives you an opportunuty (considering that you have the ability and skills) to create your own solutions for your own needs.

Absolutely yes!

I don’t understand that either. Maybe it is related to the fact that the more add-ons you have, the slower Blender might start or the more memory it uses…
Anyways, this is such on obvious use case, that it should be activated by default, just like Node Wrangler too.

I think its still different issue here. For example in this video he just saves one blend file then appends into another. But for me I dont see the same folders in the .blend file.
This is from the video:

What’s your Blender’s version so far?

It might be because of incompatibility between blender’s versions. I faced with something similar before.

The most latest 3.6.4

Try to reproduce the same steps in another Blender’s version, 3.5 for example, or even more earlier.

Hey mate, i know this is super super later hahaha but I was having this issue and I solved it by mistake! all I had to do is turn off this filter thing and everything showed up!! Hopefully this will help others in the future
