Not sure if this is the correct area to post…
but is this my fault (browser) or website fault?
I know it’s not much but it really annoys me ( the thread being in a really weird place)

Blenderartists now has those ads that you have to swipe away as well.
I do not know how much control Blendernation has over the way the ads are displayed, but the servers are not cheap so it is not out of the question they are trying to ‘encourage’ people to pay for a subscription so they can keep things running.
It is either that or taking away features from the free tier such as unlimited and/or large image uploads, pick your poison.
Little to none.
There are a wide variety of ways to remove ads from a website - the officially sanctioned method is to become a Patreon supporter of the site, there are other ways as well if it’s disrupting your experience
Could you please post a link to the Patreon for BA?
Thanks,
Randy
As I said i got nothing against ADs, the thing that annoys me is that the thread was pushed to the right and it looks really weird and for some reason annoys me
I can pay 4-5$ a month (since I no longer pay for MEGA so it frees up some cash… got tired of them and I’m not gonna allow them to blackmail me, that data is no loss for me at all…) but I ain’t donating through Patreon
Why, is there something wrong with the Patreon system? I thought Patreon was a trusted payment platform.
@joseph TY!

Their history and how they treated people, basically it’s runned by cultists that will strike anyone that doesn’t tread the line that they painted. Just the fact that they removed, banned and never gave/paid them what they were owed, just for post on another platform (social media)…and this is just the top of the iceberg.
I’m poor, going blind but I would be willing to give 5$ a month, I like the community and if it helps saying no to idiotic google advertising, were they constantly sell our data is the cherry on top.
i just run " no-script" on firefox and chrome and 99% of ads are gone
it DOSE require some setting up and custom settings for each site
but it works great
“uBlock Origin.”
The sad thing is…
BlenderArtist does get less then 75EUR/month via patreons…
now look up how much a server per month costs… and then also with support for discourse (or from)… now add all the time people involved into this spent when providing this service…
And then people complain about advertisment ( which are not directly booked by BA ).
Think about it.
That’s why I gave direct to Bart
How about BA just gives you a paywall instead of content if such a black & white view on ads is to be taken.
This is not one of those sites that will bring a PC down to its knees just from the ads loading in, and so far, there have been none that attempted to deliver malware. You either accept ads or you can get used to paying a subscription for every single website you want to visit, your choice.
I know of several websites who do not use “advertising” at all. They say as much, and they rely upon donations. Yet, they survive.
Until they get extinct…
Some of these people are the same ones who will pirate all of their software and steal everything they need and want from retail stores if they know they can get away with it. Paying for things (even if by proxy such as allowing ads) is just anathema in their opinion and then they complain when the software goes EOL and the stores go out of business.
Now a small disclaimer, I have an adblocker, but only for security reasons (I have it off for all websites except for those where ads tried to put malware on my machine). It is a lot cheaper than paying a subscription for an AV software with web scanning and package intercept. What initially drove me to get Adblockplus was when BA during the Elysiun era loaded an ad that placed a bogus antivirus software on my machine and blocked access to everything except itself (fortunately, my Windows drive was a slow platter back then so I could race to do a system restore before it activated on startup).
