So i had the same problem, but unlike him, I don’t rly know how to fix it (I’m a beginner so there’s still a lot I don’t know)

I assume you mean the overlapping areas of the donut and the icing. As he says in the video, he solves this problem later (around 15:15) with the shrinkwrap modifier. At the point you mention, he moves the overlapping areas in edit mode with propotional editing turned on (shortcut “o”).
